I. Location
Mozambique is located in the Southern Africa Region, with a total area of 799 380 Km2 which includes 6000 000 ha arable land and 3866 368 ha of cultivated land. Its population is estimated in 18 millions, among those 80% live in countryside and 20% in urban areas.

IV.1. Main Exports • Aluminium (one of Africa biggest aluminum producers with an investment of 1.2 billions USD) • Natural Gas Condensate; • Prawns; • Cashew (nuts, kernel); • Electricity; • Timber; • Sugar; • Cotton; and • Lobsters.

V. Main Ports • Maputo Corridor (South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe); • Beira Corridor (Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi); and • Nacala corridor (Malawi).
VI. Legislation on Investment
The Mozambican Legislation on Investment, among others, comprises:
VI.1. Export Processing Zones with main requirements: • Export of 85% • Employ at least 20 mozambicans. • Import of Goods- duty free • Reduction of 60% on corporate tax • Expatriate workers- 15% of total.

VII. Land
• Under the Mozambican Law, land belongs to the state and may not be sold, mortgaged and pledged;
• Maximum, length of concession is 50 years, renewable for further 50 years.

VIII. 1.2. Mining Legislation
VIII.1.3. Mineral Titles under Law 014/2002 • Reconnaissance License, valid maximum of two years; • Exploration License, with maximum duration of five years and renewable for a maximum of 10 years (with exclusivity); • Mining Concession, with a maximum duration of twenty five years (25) and renewable for maximum of 25 years; • Mining Certificate, with a duration of two years; • Mining Pass granted for a term of twelve months and renewed for the same period.

VIII.4.1.Currently Production • Marbles, bauxite, gemstones, coal, tantalite, bentonite, limestone, construction materials, ornamental rocks, and mineral water. • Small scale and artesanal mining (gold and gemstones).
VIII.4.2. New Mining Projects under implementation • Heavy Minerals Sands • Moatize Coal Project with reserves 2.4. Billions tones; • Natural Gas with proved condensates reserves estimated on 1 468 198.6 (it important to note that there's a great demand of foreign investor interested in implementing new projects in Mozambique based on natural gas (iron reduction, fertilizers, electricity etc). the supply of gas to the domestic market is expected to be extended to the areas in the vicinity of the pipeline.
• Natural gas will play a key role in the energy market in Southern Africa.
IX. OIL& Gas
Oil & Gas are under exploration, and the international tender closed in January 2006. 4 Companies invited for negotiations.
